The multifunctional complex Minsk Arena is one of the largest sports facilities in Europe. The sports and entertainment center includes a 15,000-capacity ice rink, a 3,000-capacity speed skating track, a 2,000-capacity velodrome, a parking ramp and administrative buildings. Only three ice palaces in Europe have a capacity bigger than that of Minsk Arena. They are Cologne’s Lanxess Arena (18,000), PostFinance-Arena in Bern (16,789), and O2 Arena in Prague (17,360). IIHF officials and international ice hockey stars have spoken very highly of Minsk Arena. The sports complex is the main venue for the 2014 IIHF World Championship.
